Paco Pena and His Flamenco Dance Group

I have been learning to dance Flamenco for almost a year.It has been a very difficult and challenging albeit enjoyable learning experience for me.There have been so many types of dances I have studied over the years i.e.Polynesian-Hawaiian and Tahitian as well as Belly Dancing. All these dances I found easy to learn but Flamenco is taking a lot longer.I was thinking of giving up but seeing the show with Paco Pena  inspired me to continue the learning process.

I nearly didn’t get to see this great guitarist concert at Sydney Theatre. Tickets were sold out.My youngest daughter told me to check with her eldest sister in London if she can get the tickets for me.She is involved in a lot of theatre productions all over the world and deals with many Producers from New York Broadway ,London West End as well as Sydney.I sent her an e-mail to find out the availability of tickets but reassuring her not to worry if she can’t get it.She certainly knew who to ask! I got two tickets in the best box seats organized and paid for by a Producer friend she has worked with!I promptly sent him the cheque for it.

I took a very good friend with me as my husband is rather tone deaf-the singing and stamping will just give him a massive head-ache!

It was a sublime experience seeing the brilliant dancers and the beautiful guitar-playing of Paco Pena. The duet he did with him playing his guitar and the lady playing her castanets was teasing, playful and passionate. One can’t help but marvel that this could be achieved.

The dances performed singly to the guitar playing of Paco was mesmerizing. The speed and precision of the steps has to be seen to be believed. It was an absolute joy to watch.

I went home newly encouraged and inspired to continue attending my classes. It will take time before I can really dance without feeling quite inadequate but I’ll persevere.

As I was looking at a  few nice cards at a lovely shop,I found this card that says”Don’t look at your feet to see if you are doing it right.Just dance.”Kobi Yamada

I might do just that!
